Meet the past residents
Kouraku Kiln’s residency studio is home to local and international artist, designer and craftsman. When coming for a residency you will also get to interact with Japan based creators.
Samantha Rin
Singapore based art historian and artist. Samantha’s main focus during her residency was to create a series of miniature vases.
Maria Christern
Austria based artist, Maria has been both a resident and an intern at Kouraku kiln. In 2023, her internship gave birth to the Moon Drop teapot.
Rohit Kulkarni
India based ceramist, Rohit is the cofounder of Curators of clay. After his 2022 residency, a new collaboration bloomed and Kouraku-CofC projects are ongoing.

Finlay Macadam
London based ceramist, Finlay came for a first residency in 2023. He holds the record of the most bowls produce in a 1 month residency.
Caroline Baumhauer
Paris based design student Caroline came for a summer residency to explore Arita porcelain.
Trevor Forster
Thailand basted sculptor and ceramist Trevor has been taking part in the residency programme since 2018.

Bhairavi Naik
Bhairavi is a ceramist based in Pune, India. She is the cofounder of Curators of Clay. Her talent and knowledge of chemistry make her an amazing glaze specialist. During her visit to Arita she focus on underglaze painting.
